Position:

Trainee Lab Technicians at Advanced Technical Services focus on learning the fundamental techniques and concepts that will be utilized while working at ATS.  This position works primarily at the Kent Lab, with duties and responsibilities at the office and customer facilities as well.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Learn how to calibrate customer equipment in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, internal procedures, and industrial/military standards.

  2. Learn how to fill out Calibration Certifications and Rejection forms.

  3. Learn how to maintain files appropriately.

  4. Learn how to timely with all paperwork and clerical duties at the office.

  5. Learn how to enhance coworker relationships with mutual displays of respect and hard work.

  6. Learn how to create beneficial customer relationships.

  7. Learn how to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

  8. Learn how to protect and enhance the company’s reputation through accurate and timely communication.

  9. Learn how to identify and respond to problems in a respectful and timely manner.

  10. Learn how to effectively at utilize tools to help create solutions to problems.

  11. Learn how to continually work towards a broader range of testing abilities and work skills through training.

  12. Learn how to take ownership of mistakes as well as the initiative to correct.

  13. Learn how to work well in group solving situations

  14. Learn how to utilize the systems set in place at ATS.

  15. Learn how to provide service to customer equipment at familiar locations under supervision.

  16. Learn how to apply testing techniques in an effort to cement foundational concepts.

  17. Learn how to effectively communicate questions and differences between common problems and unique situations.

  18. Learn how to demonstrate an effective understanding of the calibration process in typical applications.

  • Education and/or Experience

High school education or GED; Military Technical School, Trade School, or 4 years related work experience.

 

  • Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Additionally Trainee Lab Technicians must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

  • Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software; Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access Database software; and Microsoft Word Processing Software.

 

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

Trainee Lab Technicians must have good verbal, written communication and editing skills with ability to explain basic concepts to a diverse group of people including customers, customer’s staff, and management.Excellent attention to detail and a self directed mindset with the ability to work under minimal supervision in an unstructured environment are critical to this position.Additionally the ability to organize work, and to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently to meet deadlines is essential to this position.

 

  • Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.The employee is frequently required to walk.The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance and stoop or kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

 

  • Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
