Unlock Federal Lab Partnerships for Product Development — May 12 in Seattle

CAMPS manufacturing members have a rare opportunity to connect directly with federal lab researchers and technology managers at the upcoming Innovation Power Hour, taking place May 12, 4:30–6:00 p.m. at the Westin Seattle.

This is not a procurement event. It is a practical networking opportunity for manufacturers, innovators, and association leaders who want to explore how federal labs can support product development, technology commercialization, testing, licensing, and collaborative R&D.

The federal lab system represents one of the most underused resources available to U.S. manufacturers. Across more than 350 facilities, the federal government invests approximately $150 billion annually in R&D, supported by more than 100,000 scientists and technologists. These labs hold thousands of patents available for licensing and can engage with companies through tools such as Collaborative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) and Test Service Agreements.

For CAMPS members working in areas such as metals, composites, electronics, food processing, advanced fabrics, aerospace, defense, or other advanced manufacturing sectors, this event could open doors to technical expertise, credibility with investors and partners, and future commercialization opportunities.

Attendees will hear a concise, high-energy presentation on what collaboration with federal labs can make possible. Posters highlighting a sample of available technologies and partnership opportunities will also be on display, giving participants a chance to browse, ask questions, and make direct connections with agency representatives.

This matters for Pacific Northwest manufacturers because federal labs often form partnerships within a regional radius, yet the Northwest has far fewer large federal lab assets nearby than many East Coast competitors. That makes this Seattle event a timely chance to build relationships that may not come around often.

Registration is $25.

CAMPS members interested in innovation, commercialization, product development, or strengthening their technical credibility should seriously consider attending.
